HL Deb 24 March 1953 vol 181 c239
THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY)

My Lords, before we go further with our Business, it may be for the convenience of your Lordships if I say something about to-morrow's Business. As your Lordships know, there is a Motion down for debate to-morrow on the subject of Defence. It appears that a large number of Peers wish to take part in this debate—no fewer than twenty-six have already put down their names—and, in the circumstances, it seems clear that we cannot expect to finish the debate to-morrow night. What I would propose, therefore, is that we should rise fairly early and complete the debate on Thursday. I believe that this course is acceptable to noble Lords opposite, and I merely announce it.
