§ THE LORD PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL (THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY:)My Lords, in moving the Adjournment of the House, I think it will be for the convenience of your Lordships if I take this opportunity of informing the House of the programme that has been agreed through the usual channels for the conduct of the Central African Federation Bill which, as your Lordships have just heard, we received this afternoon. We shall take the Second Reading on Monday and Tuesday, July 6and 7, and the Committee Stage on July 13, the Third Reading being taken on the following day.
The House will meet formally tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. to receive the National Insurance Bill, which is then expected to come up from another place. The Second Reading of the National Insurance Bill, which is urgently needed for Royal Assent by the middle of the month, it has been agreed, shall be taken on Tuesday next.
In order to enable as many of your Lordships as possible to attend the Royal Review of the R.A.F. at Odiham on Wednesday the 15th, it has been agreed to endeavour to clear the 15th and to sit that week on the 13th, 14th, and 16th. Perhaps noble Lords who have business already on the Paper for Wednesday the 15th will co-operate by finding another day, for which we will give them every assistance in our power.
On Thursday the 16th, as your Lordships know, there is to be a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, and is proposed that, in accordance with recent custom, we should meet at 2.30 that day arid adjourn at 3.45. If the Business has not been concluded before the adjournment, then we shall resume the Sitting that day at 6 o'clock. I beg to move that the House do now adjourn.
