§ Clause 1, page 1, line 11, leave out ("accuracy")
§ LORD MANCROFTMy Lords, this Amendment was accepted in another place on the general ground that the word "accuracy," which this Amendment seeks to leave out, had rather a limited value unless it was qualified. For example, the accuracy of a thermometer must be far greater in a laboratory than in the oven of a domestic cooker, or so I am informed. The requirements of both are already safeguarded in the Bill by the expressions "fitness for purpose" and "performance or behaviour." I think that the Bill would be improved by the omission of this word, which may give some ground for doubt or hesitancy. Therefore, I recommend that your Lordships should accept this Amendment. I beg to move that this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.
§ Moved, That this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Mancroft.)
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
