HL Deb 22 January 1953 vol 179 c1195

4.6 p.m.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD SIMONDS)

My Lords, I beg leave to introduce a Bill to extend for a further period the operation of the Leasehold Property (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1951, and the Long Leases (Temporary Provisions) (Scotland) Act, 1951; and to move that this Bill be read a first time. Before I put the Question to the House, it will perhaps be convenient if I state that copies of the Government White Paper explaining their policy on leasehold reform are now available in the Printed Paper Office. Perhaps I may add, for the further information of the House, that I understand that it has been arranged through the usual channels that a debate on the White Paper and on the Motion for the Second Reading shall be held on Wednesday, February 18, next.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 1a.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Bill read 1a, and to be printed.
