§ 4.6 p.m.
THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD SIMONDS)My Lords, I beg leave to introduce a Bill to extend for a further period the operation of the Leasehold Property (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1951, and the Long Leases (Temporary Provisions) (Scotland) Act, 1951; and to move that this Bill be read a first time. Before I put the Question to the House, it will perhaps be convenient if I state that copies of the Government White Paper explaining their policy on leasehold reform are now available in the Printed Paper Office. Perhaps I may add, for the further information of the House, that I understand that it has been arranged through the usual channels that a debate on the White Paper and on the Motion for the Second Reading shall be held on Wednesday, February 18, next.
§ Moved, That the Bill be now read 1a.—(The Lord Chancellor.)
§ On Question, Bill read 1a, and to be printed.
