THE EARL OF SCARBROUGHMy Lords, I have the honour to present to your Lordships three Messages from the Queen signed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret, as Counsellors of State. The first is as follows:
"We Counsellors of State, to whom have been delegated certain Royal functions as specified in Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated November the 20th, 1953, have received your Address to Her Majesty praying that the National Service Act, 1948 (Duration) Order, 1953, be made in the form of the draft which was laid before your Lordships' House on 3rd November.
"On Her Majesty's behalf we will comply with your request."
The second Message is in these terms: "We Counsellors of State, to whom have been delegated certain Royal functions as specified in Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated November the 20th, 1953, have received your Addresses to Her Majesty praying that the Supplies and Services (Transitional Powers) Act. 1945, and the various Defence Regulations and 864 enactments which you specify be continued in force respectively for a further period of one year until the tenth day of December, nineteen hundred and fifty-four.
"We will give directions accordingly."
The third Message is as follows: "We Counsellors of State, to whom have been delegated certain Royal functions as specified in Letters Patent under the Great Seal of the Realm dated November the 20th, 1953, have received your Addresses to Her Majesty praying that the Patents (Extension of Period of Emergency) Order, 1953, and the Registered Designs (Extension of Period of Emergency) Order, 1953, be made in the form of the respective drafts laid before Parliament.
"On Her Majesty's behalf we will comply with your request."
