My Lords, I have a Message from the Queen, signed with her own hand, which I will now ask the noble and learned Lord on the Woolsack to read to your Lordships.
§ The noble Marquess thereupon left his place and presented the Royal Message to the Lord Chancellor on the Woolsack.
§ THE LORD CHANCELLOR (LORD SIMONDS)
My Lords, Her Majesty's Message is as follows:
"Her Majesty, being desirous that provision shall be made for His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, for Her Majesty's children other than His Royal Highness The Duke of Cornwall, for Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret in the event of Her marrying, and for any future wife of 1134 His Royal Highness The Duke of Cornwall, in the event of her surviving His Royal Highness, relies on the attachment of the House of Lords to Her person and Family to concur in the adoption of such measures as may be suitable to the occasion."
