HL Deb 14 May 1952 vol 176 cc1012-3
EARL FORTESCUE

My Lords, may I interrupt to make an announcement about future business? As the debate on the Motion moved by the noble and gallant Earl, Lord Cork, has taken rather longer than expected, it has been necessary to make changes. It has been agreed through the usual channels that the opening of the Transport debate shall be postponed until to-morrow, when the whole day will be devoted to it. The remaining business has been postponed until Tuesday next, including the Second Reading of the Empire Settlement Bill.

LORD LUCAS OF CHILWORTH

My Lords, noble Lords on this side of the House are grateful for the statement which the noble Earl has made. May we convey our appreciation to the noble Marquess who leads your Lordships' House for so adjusting the business at, I believe, some inconvenience to himself, to allow the very important debate on Transport to have the whole of tomorrow's Sitting?

THE MARQUESS OF SALISBURY

My Lords, I am grateful to the noble Lord for the kind things he has said. It clearly would be most inappropriate to start such an important debate at so late an hour.
