HL Deb 04 March 1952 vol 175 cc421-2

2.44 p.m.

EARL HOWE

My Lords, I beg to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether steps can be taken to consult the London and Home Counties Traffic Advisory Committee upon the advisability of instituting striped crossings in the Royal Parks in the London area.]

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE COLONIES (THE EARL OF MUNSTER)

My Lords, the London and Home Counties Traffic Advisory Committee exists to advise the Minister of Transport but my right honourable friend the Minister of Works is consulting the Minister of Transport upon the desirability of making regulations for the establishment of pedestrian crossings on roads in the Royal Parks.

EARL HOWE

My Lords, while thanking the noble Earl very much indeed for his answer, may I hope that this inquiry will receive a certain amount of urgency, in the hope of preventing more people front becoming casualties on the roads?
