HL Deb 04 July 1951 vol 172 c575

2.36 p.m.

LORD MANCROFT

My Lords, I beg to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government whether they can say when they expect to publish the composition and terms of reference of the proposed Royal Commission on Divorce.]

THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT JOWITT)

My Lords, the composition and terms of reference of the proposed Royal Commission on Divorce have not yet been finally decided, but I hope that it will be possible to make an announcement in the near future.

LORD MANCROFT

My Lords, in thanking the noble and learned Viscount the Lord Chancellor for his answer, may I ask whether he will allow me to put down a Question on a more productive occasion?

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

Yes, most certainly. I will keep in touch with the noble Lord and suggest a date when a Question might bear the fruit he desires.
