§ LORD SHEPHERDMy Lords, I have an announcement to make regarding the date and duration of the Christmas Recess. If we have concluded our Business, as we hope to be able to do by that date, we shall move the adjournment of your Lordships' House for Public Business on Thursday afternoon, December 14, or the following day about noon, and we shall reassemble on Tuesday, January 23. But I must not be understood as giving any firm promise that we shall be able to adhere to the dates I have mentioned, which must, of course, depend upon the requirements of Public Business.
