HL Deb 10 May 1950 vol 167 cc231-2
THE PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF WORKS (LORD MORRISON)

My Lords, I beg to move that this Special Order also be approved.

Moved, That the Special Order as reported from the Special Orders Committee on Thursday last be approved.—(Lord Morrison.)

LORD CLYDESMUIR

My Lords, I notice that the form is slightly different in this case, and I should like to ask whether there is in fact any difference between the two countries, and also whether the Order has been generally agreed to by the Police Council in Scotland.

LORD MORRISON

My Lords, these regulations are substantially the same as those for England and Wales, except that the latter contain provisions which amend certain English regulations which have no counterpart in the Scottish regulations. In reply to the second question put by the noble Lord, I should like to add that, as required by Section I of the Police Pensions Act, 1948, the Scottish Police Council have been consulted about these regulations and have given their approval.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
