HL Deb 21 March 1950 vol 166 cc299-300
VISCOUNT STANSGATE

My Lords, may I ask His Majesty's Government when it is intended to publish a White Paper concerning Seretse Khama?

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, I am afraid I cannot answer that question without notice. At any rate, I would respectfully say to the noble Viscount that this is not the appropriate moment to ask the question.

VISCOUNT STANSGATE

My Lords, will the noble and learned Viscount, the Lord Chancellor, bear in mind that it would be hardly fair to depose and exile this man without there being an opportunity of presenting his case.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

The noble Viscount may be assured that all relevant considerations will be borne in mind.
