HL Deb 27 June 1950 vol 167 c1123

Order of the Day for the Second Reading read.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, I beg to move that this Bill, which is a Bill to consolidate certain enactments relating to the Army Reserve, be now read a second time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a;.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

VISCOUNT BRIDGEMAN

My Lords, I would not take up the time of your Lordships' House were it not that I have often asked the noble and learned Viscount who sits On the Woolsack when this Bill was coming along. I should like to take this opportunity of saying how much we appreciate the appearance of this Bill, the form of which shows how many Acts have to be consolidated. If I may, with the leave of the House, I will add that the same remark applies to the next Bill on the Order Paper.

On Question, Bill read2a;; and referred to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.
