HL Deb 04 April 1950 vol 166 cc725-6
THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (VISCOUNT ADDISON)

My Lords, I think it may be convenient if I mention what has been arranged with regard to the Business of the House. In view of the large number of speakers on the subject of the debate to-day, it has been suggested that we should adjourn not later than seven o'clock and resume the discussion tomorrow, after the Orders on the Paper have been dealt with I hope it will be for the convenience of your Lordships if the noble Viscount, Lord Alexander, makes a general statement on defence fairly early in our proceedings to-day; and I am sure it will be in accordance with your Lordships' wishes that, if need be, at the end of the debate he should be able to make some observations on the points which have arisen.
