HL Deb 27 October 1949 vol 164 cc1311-2

4.5 p.m.

THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF DROGHEDA)

My Lords, I beg to move a number of Amendments to the Private Bill Standing Orders, details of which will be found in the Appendix printed in the MINUTES OF PROCEEDINGS after Questions not for Oral Answer. I shall, of course, be glad to try to explain any of these Amendments should your Lordships wish me to do so, but I think I may say that these Amendments make merely minor technical changes; and not one raises any question of policy. All the Amendments have already been made in Standing Orders in another place and, of course, it is desirable that so far as possible the Standing Orders of both Houses should be identical. I should warn the House that other Amendments of Private Bill Standing, Orders are now under consideration, and I may have to trouble the House with a further batch before the end of the Session. In the meantime, I beg to move that the Standing, Orders relative to Private and Provisional Order Confirmation Bills be amended.
