HL Deb 10 November 1949 vol 165 cc631-2
THE EARL OF MANSFIELD

asked His Majesty's Government whether permits for the importation of coconuts in the shell are to be issued to Jamaica and the other British West Indian Islands on the same conditions as for British West Africa; and if not, why there is to be discrimination in favour of one part of the Colonial Empire.

LORD LUCAS

Coconuts in shell were included in the list of items for which import relaxations, in the form of open general licences operative as from October 5, were announced by my right honourable friend the President of the Board of Trade in another place on September 29 last. The territories to which these open general licences apply include all pants of the Colonial Empire.

House adjourned at five minutes past eleven o'clock.
