THE LORD CHANCELLOR (VISCOUNT JOWITT)

My Lords, I have to read to your Lordships' House a letter, dated May 17, which I have received from Sir Henry Badeley. The letter is as follows:

"MY DEAR LORD CHANCELLOR,

It is with very great regret that, in accordance with precedent. I write to ask your Lordship to announce to the House that the time has come for me to resign from the Office of Clerk of the Parliaments.

It has been my privilege and honour to hold a post at the Table of the House for nineteen years, for the last fifteen of which I have held the post of Clerk of the Parliaments, and I would ask you to be good enough to express to their Lordships my deep appreciation of the kindness and consideration which I have invariably received from all quarters of the House.

Yours very sincerely,

HENRY J. F. BADELEY."

I beg to move, that this letter be considered to-morrow.

Moved, That the letter from Sir Henry Badeley be considered to-morrow.—(The Lord Chancellor.)
