Order of the Day read for the consideration of the Second Report from the Select Committee.

1.—REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON HIGHER CIVIL SERVICE REMUNERATION.

The Committee considered the Report of the Committee on Higher Civil Service Remuneration and approved the application of its recommendations to the Officers of the House as and when the Government gives effect to the proposals in the Civil Service generally.

2.—GIFT TO CAEN UNIVERSITY.

The Committee authorised a payment to meet the binding, etc., of the printed records of the House of Lords that are being presented to the University of Caen.

3.—ROYAL GALLERY BOOKSTALL.

The Committee agreed to the new regulations respecting the stall for the sale of guide books, etc., in the Royal Gallery on days on which the Palace of Westminster is open to the public.

4.—GRATUITIES TO LEGAL PERSONAL REPRESENTATIVES OF CUSTODIANS.

The Committee sanctioned the payment of gratuities under the Superannuation Acts, 1909 and 1935, to the legal personal representatives of Custodians W. H. Harris and J. Smith, who died on 4th December, 1948, and 19th January, 1949, respectively.

5.—SUB-COMMITTEE ON THE LIBRARY.

A Report from the Library Sub-Committee that they have appointed the Viscount Simon to be a member of the Sub-Committee was read, and agreed to.
