HL Deb 10 March 1949 vol 161 c277

4.5 p.m.

LORD CHORLEY

My Lords, we are given to understand that noble Lords opposite who have interested themselves in these Regulations would be glad of a little more time for consideration of the proceedings in another place. Therefore, we do not propose to take the Regulations this afternoon, but to postpone their consideration until Tuesday next, March 15, when they will be taken immediately after the Second Reading of the British North America Bill. I trust that this arrangement will be agreeable to your Lordships generally.

VISCOUNT SWINTON

My Lords, I am sure we are all obliged to the noble Lord for this arrangement. It is a convenient arrangement and, I believe, will expedite business. I happened to look at the proceedings in another place, and I saw that they continued until after the printers of Hansard had gone to bed. Therefore, if we were to debate the Regulations to-day we should be debating them with only a partial report of the proceedings in another place before us.
