HL Deb 12 July 1949 vol 163 cc1205-6

7.9 p.m.

LORD SHEPHERD

My Lords, before the House adjourns, I have to make a brief statement about one item which was on the Order Paper for to-day. When the discussion took place on the Justices of the Peace Bill, it became clear at once that the debate would be long. Representations were therefore made to His Majesty's Government that we should not proceed to-day with the Report stage of the Housing Bill. Discussions were conducted through the normal channels and an agreement was reached. The Report stage will therefore take place on Thursday.
