HL Deb 14 December 1949 vol 165 cc1613-4

8.3 p.m.

LORD SHEPHERD

My Lords, before the House adjourns, I have a short but important announcement to make on the order of to-morrow's Business. After we have dealt with the Orders reported from the Special Orders Committee for approval, we expect to receive the Commons Message on your Lordships' Amendments to the Parliament Square (Improvements) Bill. It has been agreed through the usual channels that this Message shall be considered forthwith upon Motion, and that thereafter we shall

inquisitions, of which I have given an example, and of which I could give the House several more, which have been undertaken by various agencies and which are calculated to undermine the confidence and good will of the men on the spot. We shall support this ground-nut scheme with all heartiness, and we refuse this so-called inquiry.

8.0 p.m.

On Question: Whether the Resolution be agreed to?

Their Lordships divided: Contents, 57; Not-Contents, 27.
