HL Deb 27 April 1949 vol 162 cc71-2

2.56 p.m.

LORD VANSITTART

My Lords, I rise to ask the Question standing in my name on the Order Paper.

[The Question was as follows:

To ask what action His Majesty's Government are taking in view of the reported refusal of the Bulgarian Government to reconsider their request for the recall of Mr. Denis Greenhill, First Secretary of His Majesty's Legation at Sofia.]

THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS (LORD HENDERSON)

My Lords, Mr. Greenhill has been recalled, and the Bulgarian Chargé d'Affaires in London has been informed that His Majesty's Government demand the recall of M. Bogomil Todorov, Third Secretary of the Bulgarian Legation.

LORD VANSITTART

My Lords, may I express a not unnatural gratification at the adoption of the principle of reciprocity, which I have so often advocated in this House?
