HL Deb 30 June 1948 vol 157 c114

Second Schedule, page 42, line 45, leave out ("seven days") and insert ("one month").

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, there are many cases of this kind. The Amendment increases from seven days to one month the period of grace allowed in the various applications which may be made to a local authority, in the case of a child brought under supervision on the commencement of the Act by the extension of the child's life protection provisions, or in the case of a child who comes within the scope of this provision within one month after the commencement of the Act. We have decided to allow the longer period because of the short time which will elapse between the passing of the Bill into law and the commencement of the Act. I beg to move that this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.

Moved, That this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
