HL Deb 30 June 1948 vol 157 c106

Clause 39, page 27, line 30, at end insert— ("(6) A sub-committee under the last foregoing subsection may be appointed by the children's committees of two or more local authorities jointly, so however that a subcommittee so appointed shall include at least one member of each of the local authorities.")

LORD MORRISON

My Lords, the immediate purpose of this and the next Amendment is to permit the joint appointment of sub-committees to manage two approved schools in Wales one of which is now managed by a joint committee of four authorities. The general purpose is to permit the joint appointment of subcommittees where this is expedient, for example to manage a temporary reception centre serving the needs of two or more local authorities. I beg to move that this House do agree with the Commons in this Amendment.

Moved, that this House do agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Morrison.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
