HL Deb 17 February 1948 vol 153 c1076
The Lord CHANCELLOR (Viscount Jowitt)

My Lords, at the end of last week I had occasion, on behalf of His Majesty's Government, to visit Paris where I had the honour of being received by the President of the French Republic. I also had the honour of being received by Monsieur Monnerville, the President of the Second Chamber in France. Monsieur Monnerville was good enough to say that my visit to Paris was a further illustration of the intimacy of the relations between the Parliamentary institutions of our two great democracies which last year had united their destinies in solemn alliance, and he asked me particularly to transmit to your Lordships a cordial message of good will from his Chamber to your Lordships' House.
