HL Deb 11 February 1948 vol 153 cc993-4
Viscount GAGE

My Lords, since I put this question down I understand that an announcement has been made in another place on the subject. I would, however, with your Lordships' permission, ask the Government if they can repeat that announcement here.

[The question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government whether they can now announce the date on which the Town and Country Planning Act, 1947, will be brought into full operation.]

LORD HENDERSON

My Lords, as my right honourable friend the Minister of Town and Country Planning has already announced in another place the appointed day for the coming into operation of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1947, and the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act, 1947, will be July I, 1948. I should perhaps also repeat the warning given by my right honourable friend that the Central Land Board are not yet in a position to deal with correspondence or inquiries. The Secretary of State for Scotland and the Minister of Town and Country Planning will arrange for a public announcement to be made when the Board open for business.
