HL Deb 13 March 1947 vol 146 c357

4.5 p.m.

LORD AMMON

My Lords, owing to the large number of noble Lords who have given notice, through the usual channels, that they propose to take part in the debate on the Economic Situation which stands on the Paper for Wednesday next, the r9th instant, in the name of the noble Lord, Lord Rennell, it has become clear to the "usual channels" that it will be necessary to allot a further day to that important subject. We have agreed, therefore, to propose to your Lordships that the Economic debate should be continued on the following Thursday afternoon, the 2oth, and that the principal business now on the Paper far that afternoon—namely, the Committee stage of the Polish Resettlement Bill—should be postponed until the following Monday, March 24, when we shall ask the House to take it before the Report stage of the Companies Bill is opened that afternoon. If your Lordships are agreeable to this proposal, we shall put a formal Motion down on the Paper for Tuesday next, to give the Committee stage of the Polish Resettlement Bill the necessary precedence on the following Monday.

VISCOUNT CRANBORNE

My Lords, I rise only to say that the arrangement is perfectly convenient to us, and we are most grateful.
