HL Deb 11 March 1947 vol 146 c259
EARL, FORTESCUE

My Lords, on be-halt of my noble friend, Lord Llewellin, who is unable to be present to-day, I beg to ask the question of which he has given private notice—namely, to ask the noble Viscount who leads the House if he can now reply to the request made by my ' noble friend Lord De La Warr during the debate on food production on February 19 last for the publication of the information prepared in 1945 on the potential saving of foreign exchange by increasing home food production.

THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR DOMINION AFFAIRS (VISCOUNT ADDISON)

My Lords, His 'Majesty's Government have no objection to the publication of this information and appropriate arrangements are being made for its issue as a White Paper. I should like to take this opportunity of correcting a statement I made during the course of this debate. As. noble Lords will see when the calculation; are made public, the £80 millions was based on pre-war prices as I stated in Column 830 of the Official Report, and not, as I subsequently stated in Columns 831 and 832, on 1945 prices.

EARL FORTESCUE

I am very grateful to the noble Viscount.
