THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (THE EARL OF DROGHEDA)

My Lords, I beg to move that the Amendments made to this Bill in unopposed Committee be agreed to.

Amendments moved—

Clause 9, page 5, line 8, after "times" insert "on application to any one of the Trustees."

Clause l0, page 5, line 12, leave out from beginning to end of line 18, and insert "(1) An Annual General Meeting of the Freeholders for the transaction of any business required or authorised by this Act to be transacted at an Annual General Meeting shall be held on a day in the month of June or the month of July in the year one thousand nine hundred and forty-eight. and in each subsequent year to be determined from time to time by the Trustees."

Clause 15, page 6, line 32, leave out "actual";

Clause 15, page 6, line 32, leave out "prescribed" and insert "determined."

Clause 15, Page 7, line 6, at end insert the following new clause:—

"As to qualifying properties jointly held

Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act the following provisions shall apply and have effect in the case of a qualifying property owned by more than one person—

  1. (a) the note in respect of that property at any meeting of the Freeholders may be given by any one of those owners present at the meeting or (if none of those owners be present) by some person acting under the authority of (and if so required by the chairman of the meeting producing for his inspection) a power of attorney given by such owners or by a majority of them; and
  2. (b) the rights conferred by the section of this Act of which the marginal note is "Grazing rights" shall be exercisable by those owners acting jointly: Provided that where the property is held by such owners as trustees for some other person or persons the said rights shall be exer-

  4. cisable by that person or by those Persons acting jointly and not by such owners."

Clause 30 page II, line 7, leave out from "shall" to end of line II and insert "not have effect unless and until it shall have been—

  1. (a) approved by the Freeholders at a meeting convened for the purpose; and
  2. (b) confirmed by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries who shall determine the date on which such regulation alteration or revocation shall come into operation."

Clause 31, page II, line 33, leave out "Rules or"; page 12, line 4, leave out "Rules or"; page 12, line 18, leave out "Rules or".—(The Earl of Drogheda.)
