§ LORD MORRISONMy Lords, this is a formal Amendment requiring at least 48 hours' notice to be given of a town council meeting at which the dismissal of the town clerk is to be considered. Under the Bill as sent to the Commons such a meeting could be held after twenty-four hours' notice and a number of members of the House of Commons felt that this period was too short. I beg to move.
