HL Deb 31 July 1947 vol 151 c853

After Clause 45, insert the following new clause:

"Application of 56 & 57 Vict. c. 61 to the Crown.

The Public Authorities Protection Act 1893, shall, in its application to any civil proceedings against the Crown, have effect as if in paragraph (a) of Section one thereof for any reference to six months there were substituted a reference to twelve months.")

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

The purpose of this clause, moved into the Bill by the Lord Advocate, is to ensure that the period of limitation in proceedings against the Crown in Scotland, which has been hitherto six months, should be extended to twelve months, so that the period of limitation in both countries should be the same. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
