HL Deb 07 July 1947 vol 150 cc120-1

Order of the Day for the Third Reading read.

LORD MORRISON

My Lords, I beg to move that this Bill be read a third time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 3ª.—(Lord Morrison.)

LORD LLEWELLIN

My Lords, before we pass this Bill, perhaps I may congratulate my noble friend opposite on having had such an easy time, and on somehow managing to have most of the Scottish Peers absent on the Third Reading of these two Bills!

THE MARQUESS OF ABERDEEN AND TEMAIR

I might point out that there are two people from Aberdeen here—Lord Morrison and myself.

LORD MORRISON

I would just like to observe that the noble Lord, Lord Llewellin, may be a little premature. I have still four small Amendments of a minor character, to move to this Bill.

On Question, Bill read 3ª

LORD MORRISON

My Lords, there are two Amendments which, with your Lordships' permission, I will take together. These are formal Amendments substituting for references to the Acquisition of Land (Authorisation Procedure) Act, 1946, references to the new Scottish Act which will replace it when the Bill now before Parliament becomes law. I beg to move.

Amendment moved— Page 105, line 24, leave out ("Act, 1946") and insert ("(Scotland) Act, 1947").—(Lord Morrison.)

On Question, Amendment agreed to.

Amendment moved— Page 105, line 28, leave out ("1946") and insert ("1947").—(Lord Morrison.)

On Question, Amendment agreed to.

LORD MORRISON

My Lords, the next is a drafting Amendment to bring the provisions of Clause 275 into line with the provisions of Clause 261. I beg to move.

Amendment moved— Page 172, line 17, at end insert ("except money borrowed or to be borowed for common good purposes in pursuance of a statutory borrowing power").—(Lord Morrison.)

On Question, Amendment agreed to.

LORD MORRISON

This is purely a drafting Amendment. I beg to move.

Amendment moved— Page 252, line 33, leave out ("therein"). —(Lord Morrison.)

On Question, Amendment agreed to.

Amendments (privilege) made; Bill passed and sent to the Commons.
