HL Deb 03 July 1947 vol 149 c893
LORD AMMON

My Lords, before we start the business of the day and resume the Committee stage of the Town and Country Planning Bill, I would like to make a short announcement about the business for next week. If, as appears likely, we do not conclude the Committee stage of the Town and Country Planning Bill to-day, we shall, with the agreement of the Parties opposite, continue the Committee stage and hope to conclude it on Monday next, July 7. In order to make room for this change, it has been necessary slightly to alter the business now on the Order Paper for Monday next—which is of a somewhat miscellaneous character —by postponing the Committee stage of the Fire Services Bill, on which there are several Amendments to be proposed, until Friday of next week July 11, when we shall meet at eleven in the morning. Otherwise, the business for that day, and for the other days of the week, will remain as originally proposed—namely, that on Tuesday we shall take the Second Reading of the Electricity Bill, and on Wednesday and Thursday the Report stage of the Transport Bill. I am afraid it will be necessary to ask the House to sit late each night, and there will be the dinner adjournment as usual between 7 and 8.30 p.m. The House will meet on Monday next, July 7, at 2.30 p.m.
