HL Deb 23 January 1947 vol 145 c109
THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR DOMINION AFFAIRS (VISCOUNT ADDISON)

My Lords, I have a short but important announcement to make regarding our programme for Tuesday next, January 28. As the first business that day, I propose to put down notice of a Motion for an humble Address to His Majesty the King on the occasion of his forthcoming departure with the Queen and the Royal Princesses on their visit to the Union of South Africa. This follows the precedent of May 3, 1939, when the noble Earl, Lord Stanhope, as Leader of the House, moved a similar Address on the occasion of the visit of their Majesties to the Dominion of Canada and the United States of America.
