HL Deb 25 February 1947 vol 145 c924

2.31 p.m.

LORD LLOYD

My Lords, I rise to ask the second question standing against my name on the Order Paper.

[The question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government, what was the home production of fresh meat in December, 1946, and January, 1947, and what were the imports of fresh, frozen, canned and corned meat in January, 1947.]

LORD HENDERSON

My Lords, the home production of fresh meat in December, 1946, was 63,000 tons, and the provisional figure for January, 1947, is 53,000 tons. Provisional figures for January imports are 78,000 tons of fresh frozen meat, 14,800 tons of canned corned meat, and 8,700 tons of other canned meat.

LORD LLOYD

I am very grateful to the noble Lord for his reply.
