§ 6.23 p.m.
§ VISCOUNT LONGMy Lords, I beg to ask the first question standing on the Paper in the name of my noble friend Viscount Elibank.
§ [The question was as follows:
§ To ask His Majesty's Government whether they will consider the desirability of placing in the Library in each House of Parliament a sketch plan of the proposed new subdivisions into German States of the British zone of Germany as indicated in the speech of the Foreign Secretary in the House of Commons on the 22nd October, 1946, showing simultaneously outlines of the former German States out of which the new subdivisions will be formed.]
LORD PAKENHAMMy Lords, a map giving this information has been placed in the Library of each House this morning.
§ VISCOUNT LONGMy Lords, I beg to ask the second question standing on the Paper in the name of my noble friend.
§ [The question was as follows:
§ To ask His Majesty's Government whether they will consider the desirability of publishing in the form of a White Paper the correspondence which has taken place with the Government of Denmark regarding the position of the Danish minority in the Schleswig area of the British zone in Germany.]
§ VISCOUNT ADDISONMy Lords, the two most important communications have been published in the Press, and, as the correspondence is not yet concluded, His Majesty's Government see no advantage in the publication of the correspondence as a White Paper.
