§ Moved, That Standing Order No. XXI be considered in order to its being dispensed with for the purpose of giving precedence to the Motion for the Third Reading of the Local Government (Financial Provisions) (Scotland) Bill over the other Notices and Orders of the Day.—(Viscount Addison.)
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
§ LORD AMMONMy Lords, before we start upon the business standing on the Order Paper to-day, it may perhaps be for the general convenience of the House if I remind your Lordships that our first sitting for public business next week will be on Monday, 18th February, at 4 o'clock, and that this sitting will be in addition to our normal meetings on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The principal business on Monday next will be the Notices in the names of the noble Marquess, Lord Reading, and the noble Viscount, Lord Simon, on the steps proposed to be taken to meet the increased burden of work and responsibility imposed upon the Civil Service by current and immediately prospective legislation, and on the recent Report of the Committee on Legal Aid and Legal Advice for Poor Persons, respectively. Let me repeat that the hour of meeting will be 4 o'clock, at the close of the Judicial Sitting that afternoon.
