My Lords, I beg to ask my second question.

To ask His Majesty's Government if they could give the total number of killed, or presumed killed, in the Navy, Army and Air Forces in Europe, Middle East and Far East, by theatres.]

My Lords, I regret I cannot give the information in the form asked by the noble Viscount, as casualties are not classified by theatres in all three Services. I can, however, say that the total numbers reported up to August 14, 1945, as killed or presumed killed in the war against Germany were 224,603, and in the war against Japan 17,127.
