HL Deb 23 October 1945 vol 137 cc407-8
LORD WALKDEN

My Lords, I rise to express my regret that in reply to the Motion by the noble Lord, Lord Templemore, in the House on October 9, concerning the rail and steamship services to Ireland, I inadvertently misled the House. I then stated that a decision had been reached to restore the Rosslare-Fishguard service, but my right honourable friend the Minister has since informed me that this is not the case, and that owing to the lack of a suitable ship it is impossible at the moment to say when it will be practicable to reopen this particular service. My right honourable friend made a statement to this effect in reply to a question in another place, and I trust that my words now will remove any misapprehension that may still exist. I greatly regret my mistake and humbly apologize to your Lordships.
