HL Deb 20 November 1945 vol 137 c1012
VISCOUNT ADDISON

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion that stands in my name with regard to the Chairman of Committees. As your Lordships are aware, Lord Stanmore, unfortunately, is unable to be with us, but I am glad to say that he is going on very well. Lord Mersey has kindly undertaken to perform, for the time being, the duties of Chairman of Committees.

Moved, That the Viscount Mersey be appointed to take the Chair in all Committees of this House in the temporary absence of the Lord Stanmore; that the Viscount Mersey do take the Chair in all Committees of the Whole House unless where it shall have been otherwise directed by the House; that the Viscount Mersey do also take the Chair in all Committees upon Private Bills and other matters unless where it shall have been otherwise directed by the House.—(Viscount Addison.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and ordered accordingly.
