THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR DOMINION AFFAIRS (VISCOUNT CRANBORNE) (Lord Cecil)My Lords, I have to acquaint the House that His Majesty has appointed Vice-Admiral Sir Geoffrey Blake, K.C.B., D.S.O., to be Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod in succession to the late Air Chief-Marshal Sir William Mitchell, and that he is at the Bar ready to receive your Lordships' commands.
Whereupon the House directed he should be called in. Accordingly he was called in and officiated in his place.
