HL Deb 05 December 1945 vol 138 cc399-400

6.48 p.m.

LORD TEMPLEMORE

My Lords, I beg to ask the other question which I have placed on the Paper.

[The question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government, now that the war agricultural executive committees are to continue in being, how they will be constituted, and by what name will they be known.]

LORD HENDERSON

My Lords, as the noble Lord is aware from the statement on agricultural policy made by the Leader of the House on November 15, it is intended that committees similar to the county war agricultural executive committees should be constituted on a permanent basis. I am unable to say anything at present about the constitution and title of these committees, but it is hoped to make a further statement in the near future.

LORD TEMPLEMORE

My Lords, I am obliged to my noble friend. Arising out of that answer, may I ask if he could impress on the Minister that in the opinion of most people it would be a good thing if the word "war" were dropped from the title?

LORD HENDERSON

I will convey that to my right honourable friend.
