LORD O'HAGAN

My Lords, on behalf of my noble friend Lord Audley, who is unavoidably prevented from being in his place, I beg to ask the question which stands in his name.

[The question was as follows:

To ask His Majesty's Government what is the acreage under tillage in the June 4 returns for 1943, 1944 and 1945.]

LORD HENDERSON

My Lords, the acreage returned at June 4 as being under tillage (that is, crops and bare fallow) in England and Wales in 1943, 1944 and 1945 was as follows: 1943, 11,538,000 acres; 1944, 11,595,000 acres; 1945, 11,051,000 acres.
