THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (LORD STANMORE)

My Lords, I propose to ask the House to appoint a Select Committee to revise the Standing Orders of the House on Private and Provisional Order Bills. The Committee in another place has been carrying out the revision of the Standing Orders which refer to the procedure on these Bills. This Committee has reported and the Report has been approved. I propose that our Standing Orders should be revised to include the amendments made. The advantage of incorporating these improvements is that it will be of assistance to promoters of Bills if the design of the Standing Orders in each House is in the same form. The noble Lords who are named have agreed to assist me in this revision, and I am sure your Lordships will agree that they are well fitted for this duty. I beg to move.
