HL Deb 02 May 1944 vol 131 c551
LORD ADDISON

My Lords, I beg to ask His Majesty's Government a question of which I have given private notice—namely, whether they have any statement to make with regard to the business of the House.

LORD TEMPLEMORE

My Lords, I am obliged to my noble friend for giving me the opportunity to make this statement. Your Lordships may have observed on the Order Paper to-day a question by my noble friend opposite (Lord Addison) regarding the expenses incurred by Peers attending your Lordships' House. My noble friend the Leader of the House, for reasons which no doubt will be apparent to your Lordships, is unable to be present to-day. He is very anxious to reply himself to my noble friend's question, and, having that in view, he has requested me to ask the noble Lord whether he will be so good as to postpone his question until to-morrow, when it will be taken after the question of the noble Lord, Lord Vansittart.
