Moved, That the Lord Stanmore be appointed to take the Chair in all Committees of this House for the remainder of the Session; that the Lord Stanmore do take the Chair in all Committees of the Whole House, unless where it shall have been otherwise directed by the House; that the Lord Stanmore do also take the Chair in all Committees upon Private Bills and other matters, unless where it shall have been otherwise directed by the House.—(Lord Templemore).

LORD ADDISON

My Lords, on behalf of my noble friends I wish to express our accord with the Resolution.

VISCOUNT SAMUEL

My Lords, I think the House is fortunate in having in Lord Stanmore a Deputy Chairman with long experience of the duties of this office. His appointment as Chairman of Committees for the remainder of the Session will be specially welcome, if I may say so, to noble Lords who sit on these Benches since he has been so long, so closely and so congenially associated with us for a period now of no less than thirty years. His appointment will also, I believe, be welcome to the House as a whole, for he commands general and cordial good will.

On Question, Motion agreed to, and ordered accordingly.
