HL Deb 14 March 1944 vol 131 c1
THE ACTING CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (LORD STANMORE)

My Lords, I beg to move that Standing Order No. 105 be considered in order to its being dispensed with in respect of this Bill. The reason for the necessity of dispensing with the Standing Order is that this Bill Was unexpectedly held up by the opposition of the Ministry of Agriculture. This delay was unavoidable as under our Standing Orders there is no provision for a deposit of such a Bill with them, and they only heard of it by chance through the Veterinary Surgeons' Institute, who were opposing the Bill.

Moved, That Standing Order No. 105 be considered in order to its being dispensed with in respect of the Bill.—(Lord Stanmore.)

On Question, Motion agreed to, and ordered accordingly.

Bill read 2a, and committed: the Committee to be proposed by the Committee of Selection.
