§ 4.9 p.m.
§ LORD DARYNGTONMy Lords, on behalf of the right reverend Prelate the Bishop of London, I beg to move the Motion which stands on the Order Paper in his name. I think it is hardly necessary to say anything with regard to it. It is quite non-controversial and is of an administrative character. It provides for a period of uncertainty and for adjustment that follows upon the present emergency. If any noble Lord wishes to have any further information with regard to the matter I shall be glad to give it to him. In the meantime I think I shall be meeting your Lordships' desires if I now do no more than simply move the Resolution.
§ Moved to resolve, That in accordance with the Church of England Assembly (Powers) Act, 1919, this House do direct that the Emergency Legislation Measure, 1944, be presented to His Majesty for the Royal Assent.—(Lord Daryngton)
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
