HL Deb 01 August 1944 vol 133 c13

Page 59, line 34, leave out ("provision") and insert ("establishment")

The Commons disagree to the above Amendment for the following Reason:

Because the Amendment is unnecessary in view of the consequential Amendment made by the Commons.

THE EARL OF SELBORNE

My Lords, this is purely consequential. If your Lordships will look back to page 2 of the Order Paper, you will see that you have agreed to an Amendment—which is set out at the bottom of the page—to page 59, line 34. When you come to that line you will see with regard to certain words which had been amended in this House on the Committee stage that the whole sentence in which they occur has been swept away. So it is clear that we cannot insist open the Amendment that was made. I beg to move that this House doth not insist upon its Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth not insist upon the said Amendment.—(The Earl of Selborne.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
