§ Order of the Day for the consideration of the Third Report from the Select Committee read.
§ The Committee reported as follows:

1. —Ecclusiastical Committee.
The Committee sanctioned a payment to Mr. H. M. Burrows for services as Secretary to the Ecclesiastical Committee.
The Committee were also informed that Mr. A. A. Capewell had been appointed to succeed Lord Kilbracken Legal Advisor to the Ecclesiastical Committee.

2.—Receiver of Fees end Accountant.
The Committee sanctioned a new scale of salary in respect of the appointment of Mr. P. Johnson as Receiver of Fees and Accountant.

3.—Dooraeeper—flue for Retirement.
The Committee sanctioned a pension and additional allowance under the Superannuation Act, 1935, to Mr. Albert Edwin Silver who attains the age of 65 years on 11th August, 1944, and is due for retirement.
The Committee further sanctioned payment of salary to Mr. Silver on his re-appointment from that date as a temporary doorkeeper.

4.—Temporary Housemaids.
The Committee sanctioned the employment of four additional housemaids temporarily for the cleaning of the extra rooms at present in use.
§
5.—Pensions.
The Committee sanctioned the application of the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1944. to all pensioners of the House of Lords staff who would come within its provisions.
§ THE CHAIRMAN OF COMMITTEES (LORD STANMORE)My Lords, this Report deals entirely with routine matters, and I do not think that there is anything in it of special interest to the House or to which I need call your Lordships' attention. I therefore beg to move that the Third Report from the Select Committee be now considered and agreed to.
